I try my hand at Lorde's signature look!
When I was asked by a subscriber to do a Lorde inspired makeup tutorial I initially wasn't sure about doing it. In most pictures I've seen of her she seems to wear only foundation (possibly with concealer and powder too) and her signature purple lipstick in varying tones. This didn't seem enough to make into a tutorial so I did a little research to see if she'd worn other looks.
I was pleased to find the pictures (posted below) because she seems to have more makeup on, and therefore more to make a tutorial out of, whilst still retaining her signature look that is so recognisably hers. These photos are my main inspiration, but the look is slightly adapted for my particular eye shape, etc.
I did tone down my usual face makeup because it looks to me as though Lorde doesn't really wear much in the way of contour, blush or highlight on her face. I do think she wears a little blush sometimes, but I omitted it for this tutorial.
Although I use MAC eyeshadows in the tutorial there is absolutely no reason you couldn't recreate a very similar look using any neutral palette such as the Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette. If you have the lipstick from Lorde's collaboration with MAC then this is the perfect opportunity to use it!
