Palettes Revisited: Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette - Darks

I have had this look planned for a while now, and I've finally gotten around to recording it! Just a dark eyeshadow look using the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette, that I actually ended up liking a lot more than I thought I would. Omen is a really gorgeous colour, especially on the inner third of the eyes, and I need to use it more.

Another thing I want to mention is that these eyeshadows are truly of an amazing quality, and Urban Decay is a wonderful brand that is absolutely in my top 5, if not top 2 favourite brands. More specifically, the palette itself is wonderful. I feel like such an idiot for not using it more in the past, and not seeing its true potential. Sometimes you have to sit down and look at the colours, pair them up, or group them together, and there you have an eyeshadow look! It's all I did to come up with the three tutorials I have done using this palette. I'm thinking the neutral look I did using it will become a go-to when I'm not feeling particularly creative :D

So, to this tutorial.

Video: Marina Diamandis (Marina & The Diamonds) Inspired

Eyebrow, Eyelid & Lip inspiration

I've admired Marina's make up for a while now because it's simple yet dramatic, and has an easily recognisable trademark - the black heart on her cheek. I've seen this done before, but people seem to mostly associate it with her.

I have previously done a similar thing in my Valentine's Day make up tutorial, but to be honest I actually took my inspiration from Amelia Nightmare, who often has a heart on her cheek of varying size, colour and texture.

That aside, this will be a Marina inspired look, that hopefully won't seem too similar to my Doll Face make up tutorial. The face make up is a little similar, but overall this look is a lot more wearable for a lot more people. Plus I intend to do a dark lip, which Marina seems to wear with her darker hair, rather than the baby pink she seemed to wear with her platinum/silver hair.

Highlight/Face inspiration

Eyelash inspiration

Regardless of lip colour and eye make up Marina seems to always have her black eyebrows, and the heart, so I am taking these features, and the rest of the make up will be a combination of how she wears her make up with her dark hair, and her silver hair.

These photos and the video are a second attempt at this look because the first time I recorded it there were a number of things that just did not look as good as I'd hoped! I'm so much happier with how this turned out, and although it was a pain to have to do the same thing twice, it was so worth it.

My favourite part of the look is definitely the cheek highlight, I love the Bourjois loose eyeshadow I used. The texture isn't 100% right for this purpose, but it just looks so pretty. I'm also thinking I should use Urban Decay's Sin eyeshadow a lot more! It's such a nice shimmery eyeshadow that almost has a wet-look about it.

Video: Spring Purples

My original intention was to re-record a tutorial I did about a year ago, if not longer, because...let's face it...my older tutorials are just not so good. So I thought I could do a much better version using better products, improved ability and MY VOICE.

As I was recording it I realised it was actually a really nice Spring look, and I thought that was pretty relevant given the time of year it is, so I incorporated that into the name.

Palettes Revisited: Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Palette - Dramatic

So many Urban Decay palettes!

I wanted to do a neutral look using this palette because there are so many neutral shades (pales, darks, browns, blacks), but when I tried them out they looked so boring, and so much like my Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette look. Then I decided to make it more dramatic, and thought of using the tape to create a big winged look.
