Review: Estée Lauder Sumptuous Infinite Mascara

I have reviewed mostly 'drugstore' mascaras so far, so here is a more high end one for you. This is Estée Lauder Sumptuous Infinite.

Right Eye No Mascara

Right Eye 1 Coat

Left Eye 2 Coats
Right Eye 2 Coats
Both Eyes 2 Coats

Short Bristles
Long Bristles

This mascara retails at £21.00 in the UK, but where I live it costs £18.50. It is available in black or brown, but I exclusively wear black mascara so that is the one I am reviewing for you. Estée Lauder often does mascara sets for the exact same price as the mascara, but you get Advanced Night Repair eye creme and eye makeup remover samples. So you can always wait for those (they tend to do them a few times a year) if you want good value for money.

The mascara claims to give 'daring length and volume'. You can take a look at the pictures to make your own decision on whether or not you agree with it. I personally find it does volumise quite nicely, but I wouldn't say that I get a massive amount of length.

I never apply more than two coats of mascara because I don't like how it looks on me, and that is just personal preference. I have seen some insane pictures of people layering this particular mascara over and over until they get ridiculous eyelashes. You can achieve huge lashes with this mascara, like a false lash effect, but it really depends on if you like the spidery look, and that's fine if you do!

The brush on this mascara is a plastic comb with two different bristle lengths. I tried to show this in close-up photos. About 3/4 of the brush is short bristles and then there is a row of longer bristles intended to help comb out the lashes, apply mascara evenly, and avoid clumps. I always use the side with long bristles because I prefer applying mascara that way.

Speaking of clumps, I do find this mascara has the potential to clump up if you aren't careful. This is why I usually stick to two coats. I actually find it hard to apply neatly to the bottom lashes, but that might just be me.

Overall I do really like this mascara. It's one I like to wear if I want particularly stand-out lashes without having to wear false ones. I do think though that if you like spidery lashes, and like to apply a lot of coats you will love this one!

  1. The results look promising! Though I'd agree these volumize more than lengthen. By the way you have really pretty eyes! :) x
