Video: Why is a Raven Like a Writing Desk?

After having a lot of fun creating my Beetlejuice inspired makeup look, and seeing how positive the feedback was I have decided to go ahead and make a Tim Burton inspired series. This look is inspired by The Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. I don't know which other characters I'll be doing a tutorial for yet, but suffice to say they will be the most eccentric and colourful.

This look was a bit trickier to come up with than my Beetlejuice inspired tutorial because the Mad Hatter has a full on recognisable makeup look, whereas Beetlejuice does not wear makeup so I could come up with whatever I wanted. Obviously Michael Keaton wears makeup to play Beetlejuice, but that is to create the character of Beetlejuice, who does not wear makeup. I hope that makes sense!

On top of that I was trying to get the balance of making it clear what my inspiration was, but also trying to come up with a somewhat original makeup look. This is not intended to be a costume, but is intended to be a borderline wearable look - obviously a lot of people wouldn't wear this based on the fact that the eyes have different colours on them, but you can take one of the eye looks and wear it on both eyes. One of the main aspects of the original look that I liked so much was the different eye looks so I really wanted to embrace that.
